Graduate in Technology Program

Bachelor of  Technology in Industrial Machining  with Honours

The Bachelor of Technology in Industrial Machining with Honours is a TVET program aimed at elevating the skillset of TVET graduates to an advanced level.

This program is designed to cultivate students into Industrial Machining Technologists and Technopreneurs, equipping them with the skills to perform various subtractive manufacturing tasks, including machine maintenance, component fabrication, industrial design, safety advising, and production management.

The course structure is specifically tailored based on direct input from the manufacturing industry, making it task-oriented with a strong focus on work-based learning. The curriculum integrates theory and practical lab work, emphasizing entrepreneurship, professionalism, ethics, and the incorporation of Industry 4.0 elements.

A notable feature of this program is that students will be immersed in the manufacturing industry environment for nearly a year. They will engage in work-based learning during Semesters 6 and 7, followed by industrial training in Semester 8. Additionally, students will gain proficiency in relevant manufacturing and machining software and have the opportunity to obtain professional certifications related to service, maintenance, commissioning, and start-up operations within the industry.

Graduates of this program have diverse career prospects in both the public and private sectors, particularly as technologists specializing in machining practices within various industries. Beyond roles as machining technologists, graduates can also pursue careers in fields such as mechanical technology, with a focus on advanced machining, computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). Additionally, graduates possess the potential to become entrepreneurs in related fields of design and manufacturing.
